Feedback From Our Steppers

Sue Nemeth

STEPS Challenge Winner from Kingston Community Schools

Sue says, "What motivates me is, a very good friend who has had cancer of several kinds and have beaten it every time.  She exercises everyday and gives me a call to join her during the summer months -- we are up and at it every day at 6 am.  She is a huge inspiration. Plus if the students see you eating and exercising and living life the way you should maybe they will follow."

Sue used her STEPS Wellness Challenge mini-grant to purchase posters and display boards to promote that days menu and healthy eating for her school.

Gina Stanford

STEPS Challenge Winner from Plymouth-Canton Community Schools

Gina says, "My commitment to wellness begins with daily walks with our 2 dogs, Frida and Reina. My husband and I walk them 3 miles daily, rain or shine! I love to cook so I make almost everything we eat. My family are vegetarian so I really enjoy converting old favorite recipes into tasty vegetarian meals. My priority is making sure that my family is as healthy as possible!"

Gina used her STEPS Wellness Challenge mini-grant to purchase display racks to highlight all the good food she has for her students!

Sarah Stone

STEPS Challenge Winner from Zeeland Public Schools

Sarah says, "I have three big dogs so I wake up early to walk them before work. I wake up at 4:30 am, so the dogs and I are usually the only ones out in the neighborhood, so it's really quiet and peaceful.

Every time my alarm goes off, they know they are going for a walk. Also, I love to travel! We just got back from vacation where we did up to 25000 steps a day.  Staying active helps."

Sarah won a STEPS Wellness Challenge t-shirt and Nutrition Education items including supplies to make breakfast smoothies for her students.

Dawn Cramer

STEPS Challenge Winner from Lakeland High School with Huron Valley Schools

Dawn says, "I just want to say, "Every STEP Counts!" I've lost 28 lbs by making every one of them count!

Dawn won a STEPS Wellness Challenge t-shirt and Nutrition Education items including an electric griddle, crock pot, and waffle maker, to help promote healthier eating at her school!

Cindy Kerby

STEPS Challenge Winner from Huron Valley Schools

Cindy won a STEPS Wellness Challenge t-shirt and Nutrition Education items including display boards and chalk markers to promote healthy eating, and tools like a food processor to make delicious meals for her schools students.

Sarah McCraw

STEPS Challenge Winner from Roose Elementary in Centerline Schools

Sarah says. "Staying healthy and active is important to me so that I feel good and more alert and aware of what's around me. Some of the things I like to do to stay active is working out with an app I found and walking instead of taking the elevator when we go someplace."

Sarah won a STEPS Wellness Challenge t-shirt and Nutrition Education items including an electric griddle and pancake batter dispenser, instant read thermometer and a multi-function scale, and a mandoline slicer/spiralizer to help promote healthier eating at her school!

Holly Clay

STEPS Challenge Winner from Fitzgerald High School

Holly says, "What motivates me to stay active is my son and making sure I can run around with him.  After 2 knee surgeries, I know staying active and healthy is so important.  I have always been athletic so I like to make sure that I'm always moving.  I love doing yoga and recently I have began competing in Strongman competitions with my husband!  We have fun training together and bring our son with us to the gym, he's the gym mascot!  He's growing up around the gym and active people, so we hope that he will continue to enjoy it as he grows!

Holly won a STEPS Wellness Challenge t-shirt and Nutrition Education items including Eat From the Rainbow wristbands to encourage healthy eating among her schools students!
